Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the surgeon, performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks related to surgery and trauma. Acts as a first or second assistant in surgery. Participates in pre and post-operative patient care. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement/performance improvement activities. The Medical Staff Bylaws and Title 16 of the California Administrative Code grant the PA’s privileges as outlined. Additionally, a Tenet Hospital shall only enter into an employment or independent contractor relationship with a NPP to perform services for purposes of enhancing the efficiency of patient care services. NPPs shall not perform any service for which a Physician is responsible pursuant to the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations or policies of the Medical Staff or for which, in whole or in part, any Physician receives payment (NPP policy).
