The Sterile Processing Supervisor will be responsible for the team that handles: Controls and monitors medical devices, infection control,
biological indicators, and the administration of safety practices that benefit
healthcare workers and the public at large. They provide the cleaning,
decontamination, sterilization, and inspection of surgical instruments,
devices, and implants. According to the
American Society for Healthcare Central Service Professional (ASHCSP), SPD
professionals influence hospital purchases and healthcare practices by holding
responsibility for ensuring that patient equipment is available and sterile for
use at all times during complex surgical procedures.
Education: High school diploma., or equivalent required.
Required training from an accredited Surgical Technician Program and/or
related on-the-job experience.
Previous experience as a Central Service Professional, Certified
Surgical Technician, or Sterile Processing Technician required.
Certifications: Certification required or
