Reporting to the laboratory manager and while carrying out a variety of complex procedures involving considerable independent judgment, performs chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic or specialized tests to provide data for use in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Performs the required tests according to the established procedures and methodologies.
Registration as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (MT ASCP) or equivalent experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree in the biological sciences and completion of an A.M.A. approved Medical Technology Program, which would provide an understanding of clinical tests and standards and applicable procedures/techniques or equivalent experience. The manual dexterity and visual acuity to prepare specimen and solutions and microscopically screen specimens. The analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results, perform calculations and calibrate instruments. The technical expertise to operate all equipment and to perform routine and advanced clinical diagnostic testing procedures.
