Reports to the Director/Manager and Lead Technician of Noninvasive Cardiology. According to established procedure and upon the request of the physician, performs a variety of electrocardiograms (EKG's), Holter and Event Monitors application and assist with stress testing, designed to assist the physician in evaluating heart function and/or impairment, monitoring cardiac change and patient progress. Performs a variety of clerical and service duties.
Current certification as a Cardiology Technician. Level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a valid cardiac training program and advanced technical training in cardiac testing (equivalent to one (1) year) in order to acquire knowledge of cardiac monitoring, testing, recording and interpretation or College Degree Exercise Specialist or Physiologist. Knowledge of medical terminology, arrhythmias and cardiac anatomy. One (1) to two (2) years experience in procedures. Current CPR certification. The analytical skills necessary to recognize signs of distress in patients and to recognize and label more complex arrhythmias. The interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients and other personnel. The mechanical ability to calibrate/adjust equipment (Stress Test equipment).
